Summer Salon: Disruption and Development

What does it take to sustain Whole Person approaches? Disruption and Development - Whole Person approaches as a catalyst for change.

An evening focused on the experience of learning, living, leading and changing through Whole Person approaches.

Now more than ever we need to consider what the future requires of us.

If we want a different future; one that is prosperous, equitable and sustainable for all, then we will have to change the way we operate. Working on the basis that any real change takes shifts in the person, the system and the relationship between them. Disrupting comfortable but redundant ways of working in organisations and society and creating something new; something agile, dynamic and interdependent.

We think Whole Person approaches are one way of addressing these challenges. We have gathered some significant and disruptive change makers to stimulate and provoke conversation.

Join us at Oasis, for a chance to share and hear ‘lived experience of bringing more of the whole person’ to life and work.

To help stimulate our conversations we welcome three fantastic people with stories from community, business and societal movements that are living, practicing or applying whole person approaches.

We can’t create a prosperous, equitable, sustainable society by focusing on the behaviours that have led to our current environmental, social, and economic challenges. These behaviours are symptomatic of a deeper problem rooted in human consciousness, our inner operating system – and that it will take shifts in the person – the whole person, the system and the relationship between them to make the changes and transformations called for.

This event is the latest in our series of Salons. They provide the opportunity for deeper conversations in a relaxed environment, bringing practical wisdom to shape great organisations and responsible practice.

Conversation Starters:

Ian Bray – Activist involved from the beginning of Rising Up and Extinction Rebellion, Quaker, and engaged with direct action.

Andy Falconer – Community Developer – Catalyst for the Oasis Foundation’s grant-winning Middlesbrough Urban Eco Village initiative. Developing whole person activists.

Rachel Fellows – Progressive Business Leader. Chair of Collaborative CEO at Bettys and Taylors Group, home of Yorkshire Tea, Fat Rascals, Force for Good and doing the right thing.

During the evening we will hear three stories of what is emerging in community, business and societal movements that are experimenting with developing whole person approaches through progressive methods, peer based working and learning.

This lived experience of becoming a more whole person will then inspire our own conversations and reflections on our own stories and questions.

This joint event will be introduced and facilitated by Nick Ellerby, Director, Oasis School, and Chris Taylor, Director, Oasis Foundation. There will be a light supper from 6pm with the Salon beginning at 6.30pm.

If you’d like to hear more about the Oasis Foundation, its work and plans for 2020, you are most welcome to arrive for our AGM which will start promptly at 5pm.
