Oasis & Coronavirus update 24 March 2020
In light of the evolving context and uncertainties surrounding the worldwide Coronavirus outbreak, we wanted to reassure you on the steps that we are taking in response to the situation.
We are a learning organisation committed to valuing freedom and responsibility for the individual and the community. We demonstrate globally responsible practice and our whole person approach ensures we take meaningful action for the ‘I, We and All of Us’.
What are we doing about Coronavirus?
We are following Government and Department of Health guidance and daily updates, and going beyond where we believe necessary. We are doing whatever we can to help prevent and delay further spread of the virus, whilst supporting each other and the wider community of which we are a part. We are committed to doing as much as we can, as soon as we are able, for as long as it takes.
We will ensure a precautionary, robust and proportional response. We therefore wanted to make you aware of the following:
FAQs re Coronavirus
Is the Oasis Centre in Boston Spa open?
Sadly we have had to take the decision to close the centre as from midday 24 March 2020, in light of the most recent Government advice to ensure that the possibility of the spread of coronavirus is kept to a minimum. We are monitoring daily advice and updates from the Department of Health and will update our status in response to that advice. We will update this status should there be any further developments.
Is my programme/module/1-1 session going ahead?
We will continue to monitor daily updates from the Department of Health and will keep you informed of any changes to our schedule as a result of official guidance. We will be in touch with all participants who are booked to attend an Open programme with further details should there be any change to arrangements.
For bespoke in-house programmes please talk to the key person in your own organisation if you are unsure of arrangements.
All 1-1 clients will be offered the facility to meet online by Zoom, FaceTime and/or Skype, and face to face arrangements will be altered as needed in discussion with their developer.
Should we still meet face to face?
Oasis staff and associates are now working remotely, however, we all remain contactable by email or by calling 01937 541700 or emailing the person you would like to contact direct. If you are unsure of email addresses, please email us on info@oasishumanrelations.org.uk and your email will be passed on to the relevant person. Your calls will be answered and your emails will be responded to.
We are encouraging the use of Zoom, FaceTime and/or Skype increasingly, in order to follow the latest advice from the Government and Department of Health regarding minimizing unnecessary face to face contact.
Why aren’t you just postponing everything?
We believe our programmes are work focused and currently we are not being advised by the Government that they should be cancelled. We recognise that for some individuals their programme/module/1-1 session is an essential part of their career development, and for others a key part of their current work role.
However, after reviewing guidance, from now on all our Open programmes are being run virtually, wherever possible.
Due to its approach, Speak to be Heard scheduled for 8 & 9 April will be postponed until September.
We will continue to monitor daily updates from the Department of Health and will keep you informed of any changes to this.
When would you postpone a programme?
If, due to illness, facilitators are unable to hold the programme, we would inform participants a soon as possible. We would also consider postponing a programme if the numbers became too low for a viable programme and we would inform participants as soon as possible. Any updates from the Government that advise a restriction on the number of people allowed to meet would mean that we would then consider postponing a programme.
What if I postpone until a later programme?
If you need to postpone or cancel your place, we would first encourage you to reserve a place on a future programme, but if you need to withdraw from the programme, given the exceptional circumstances and that individuals may be vulnerable, we would reimburse all fees.
What if I postpone until a later place on a forthcoming programme?
If you need to postpone or cancel your place, we would first encourage you to reserve a place on a future programme. Given the exceptional circumstances, and that individuals may be vulnerable, we would reimburse all fees if required.
The above arrangements will be constantly reviewed and are in place until 18 June 2020, with regular updates informing of any changes.
As always, we will respond as quickly as possible to any enquiries and thank you for your support.
Stay connected to Oasis Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn Channels for the latest content and updates to keep you informed, inspired and motivated in the weeks ahead.
We wish everyone the best of health and a caring community in these uncertain times.
Stay safe & Best wishes
